Carte PoireAfter living in Switzerland for nearly 3 years, Lucy still missed PG Tips, Branston Pickle and her favourite brand of shampoo....... all prerequisites for any visitor to pack into their suitcase before leaving Blighty...... However there was something else missing in her life too..... She no longer had access to her wonderful supply of birthday and other greeting cards that were specific to the UK. Unhappy with the Swiss high street cards that were double the price but half the quality (apart from all the English ones she found at Globus, that were triple the price) she decided to do something about it. So, in November last year, she used her resources from the UK and started selling greetings cards (& wrapping paper, thank you cards and other stationery items) to her friends in Switzerland, thus not only filling a gap in the market among her expat friends, but satisfying her own wish for quality cards too. All cards sold by Lucy are individually designed by a number of talented artists from the UK, all of whom sell under the Phoenix Trading umbrella, a direct card selling business equally committed to selling cards as to donating and contributing to charitable causes across the world. Alongside these, Carte Poire sells other greeting cards designed by her artist friend, Kate West, from the beautiful coastal county of Devon. These offer a totally different style, (often protraying a scene or quote depicting the British sense of humour) thus optimising a wider choice for her customers. It needs to be said that Lucy, amazing mom, masseuse, wife, and marathoner somehow found the time to organize the upcoming Marché de Noël! She's assembled a fabulous group of traders comprised primarily of the expat community and found a beautiful exposition space at the Neuchâtel Junior College (Thanks Heather!) Please support her and her team this coming Saturday at Crêt-Traconet 4, 2002 Neuchâtel from 10:00 am onward. Just across from the train station, parking is available on the street or in nearby garages but (please) not in the NJC lot.
Happy shopping! xx jess
