After years of contemplating a trip to Colmar, a friend's birthday lit a fire under our... ahem... feet and we set off for a weekend in Alsace. Just three hours away from our home, and also a grape growing region, it is dotted with miles of vineyards which produce among other fine wines, Gewurztraminer, Muscat, Pinot Gris & Riesling.
We celebrated in a traditional Alsacien restaurant and for the first time since I was a student in Dijon, I ordered a raspberry Lambic to go with the endless parade of flammekueche which passed under my nose and past my lips. What a fabulous combination!
We spent our first evening in Beblenheim, in the Haut-Rhin departement.
And after a beautiful morning lounging in the hotel spa where our kiddies discovered the joys of whirlpools, hot baths & saunas we headed off to Colmar. I hope you enjoy the tour....
Colmar's old town is cross cut canals and overflowing
How about a rest and a nice cool glass of wine?
Thanks for stopping by!
