Over the holidays, Arnaud and I acquired a fausse paire of antique bergère chairs from an aunt who is moving from a grand house in Caen to a smaller one in Brittany to be closer to her grandchildren. They are lovely in that the Gustavian grey paint has a wonderful patina, but the mustard yellow velour upholstery needs refreshing. I sigh when I look at this rustically presented fauteille, loving the way the crin de cheval appears to be so delicate next to the vintage linen. The reality is, however, is that it is rather uncomfortable against the skin and doubtless dustier than imaginable. I would do this in a big house where it could be a statement piece in the corner....... but that's not my life at the moment. We use every inch of space in our home and certainly every chair!
These are more classic, and I love them too. I even have some great vintage linen that would do the trick..... but I'd like something special and unique.....
I have a couple of vintage grain sacks that I could use.....
I could even print one to make sure the the image fit properly
But somehow I'm at a standstill....... Anyone out there have a great inspiration to share? What would you do?
