Every Autumn Neuchatel welcomes tens of thousands of feasters & frolickers into her streets for an annual Fête des Vendanges, or grape harvest festival.
It is punctuated with parades, music and of course, lots of wine. I don't believe I'd ever tasted a Swiss wine prior to moving here. In fact, as Arnaud and I arrived via train for the first time, we were surprised to see the vineyards that have become the backdrop to our daily lives. It was later explained that very little is exported, the Swiss being good consumers, and the wine being of high quality.
We were fortunate enough to be able to watch the biggest parade from the balcony of a friend's home.... well above the melee.....
..... But not out of reach of the confetti cannons!
Apparently our friends consider a confetti filled
house a point of pride and fondly remember their
annual party as they find pieces of it lurking in the
corners throughout the year.
My girl loving every minute of it!
Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your visit!
